This is a huge surprise. Weeks ago, it was reported that superstar Jennifer Lopez was no longer in the running to be a judge on American Idol.

Sources connected with the deal say her negotiations are almost finalized! There was no “diva demands” – just “typical negotiating.”

Lopez may be signed on as early as next week!

Mariah or J.Lo – I don’t care. Just announce the damn judges already!!

In case you haven’t heard, musical superstar Mariah Carey is rumored to have a bun in the oven.  Yes, a little Cannon if you will.  But, push aside all of the pregnancy talk and let’s focus on the other Carey gossip.

Word on the street is that Carey is closely being considered for the vacant seat as judge on American Idol.  Judges will be announced sometime in the next few weeks.

Degeneres quit yesterday after less than a year as a judge, and today we find out that Kara Dioguardi was fired.  And Jennifer Lopez is in?  This is chaos.  Rumors are that the new reverted 3 judge panel will consist of Randy Jackson (why?), Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler.

Reality producer Nigel Lythgoe is returning to executive produce “American Idol” after leaving the show two years ago.

Lythgoe is close to striking a deal with Fox to return in an effort to revamp the show after Simon Cowell’s exit.   The only problem is Lythgoe wishes to dump the entire judges’ panel.  Kara Dioguardi has a year-to-year contract so she is easily expendable, but Randy Jackson has a year left with his contract.  And not to mention, Ellen Degeneres has a multi-year deal with Fox.  The revamp seems a little easier said than done.

On the top of creator Simon Fuller’s wishlist to replace Cowell, are Justin Timberlake and Elton John.   Could this shake-up be what Idol needs to come back out on top?  Who would you like to see on the judges’ panel?
