I’ve been waiting for this night for three long and excrutiating months. Not only am I beyond excited for The Vampire Diaries to return, but I have heard many many great things about tonight’s season premiere episode. I feel like I’m back in the good old days when Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a prominent hit on the television line-up.
I’m told that within the first five minutes, we will know the fates of Uncle John (David Anders) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Katherine (Nina Dobrev, as Elena’s much older doppleganger) has returned for Stefan (Paul Wesley), which makes Damon (Ian Somerhalder) feel all sorts of emotions.
This season, we’ll see Alaric (Matt Davis) – does anyone else miss What About Brian? – and Damon team up yet again, a flashback to 1864, and we’ll learn about Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) werewolf curse with the help from his Uncle Mason (Taylor Kinney). I’m assuming there will be a whole lot of shirtless scenes this season; definitely not complaining. Producer Kevin Williamson told EW, “Episode 2, they’re jogging. It’s like we couldn’t have both of their shirts off in the same scene, so we gave Michael seniority. We figure Uncle Mason will get naked soon enough.”
The season 2 premiere airs tonight on the CW at 8 PM.
